Physical Features

Height:
6'6" (Aura), 10'+ (Force)
Weight:
165lb (Aura), immeasurable (Force)
Complexion:
When in his fleshy Aura, Ciaran resembles a Lumeacia elf but also doesn't: his skin tone is a pale grey like some shadow in summer with pale purple undertones, almost luminescent. When in Force form, he is almost pure darkness, flowing and rich in its depths, save for bright, twinkling swirls like auroras or stars that dance over the surface of his hulking figure.
Hair:
His hair is pale like finely-spun moonlight in his Aura form, quite long but undercut (shaved close to his scalp beneath), usually worn in a few braids and a topknot, carefully tucked out of the way.

His Force form has flowing strands of sparkling darkness that could be interpreted as hair if one wanted to get creative about it, though they are wispy and nearly intangible.
Eyes:
When wearing his elvish visage, Ciaran has almond-shaped eyes that are heterochromatic—bright greens, blues, and golds are never quite the same in each eye. As an elemental of primal, Caelomantic force, Ciaran's eyes are simply bright points of light like stars themselves.
Other Features

Ciaran is graceful and muscular in his Aura form, lithe but not lanky despite his height, occupying his physical existence with fluid confidence in the space he occupies. His voice is rich and deep, a pleasant baritone.

He isn't overly fond of too many clothes, preferring lightweight layers of dark, earth tones that often leave his arms bare but his wrists and lower legs are wrapped protectively in dark leather. He only wears shoes when necessary, and while he carries a weighted staff, the half-elemental is often mistaken for being unarmed and vulnerable. Anyone who makes that assumption only makes it once.

In his Force form, the half-elemental is flowing and impressively tall: a slim, vaguely humanoid creature with long limbs and elongated fingers, darkness drifting from his body, which looks more like the night sky poured into a bipedal shape. He has no visible mouth in Force form, and is practically featureless save for starlight where a man's eyes should be and the smoky flow of scintillating darkness in some semblance of hair. Despite his great height, Ciaran isn't a lumbering beast—delicate and etherial, those who share his company in Force form are graced with a celestial presence reminiscent of some constellation brought to life.

Social Interactions

Relationships and Companions

Ciaran does not remember anything of his parents, but he wants to attempt to find them one day anyway—somehow.

The only other people he had grown to call family are buried by his hands, but he is never without companionship behind the bookstore that is a front for a small homeless shelter and dojo he runs behind the counter.

Personality

Ciaran is a strange balance between two opposites: calm, reserved, and almost aloof, the half-elemental often doesn't present himself at all to strangers directly unless approached first, but once he makes friends, he is warm and kind, gregarious when with those he calls familiar. Unlike most full-blooded elementals, Ciaran is humble—not because he has no confidence in his abilities but because he knows his own limitations. Perhaps because of the Lumeacia in his blood, he is restless and curious, filled with wanderlust and a need to push the boundaries of his skills and experiences.

Streetwise and somewhat jaded beneath the otherwise reserved surface, Ciaran is slow to trust and very careful with his choices, and his lingering aches and pains from a difficult childhood on the streets can manifest itself in frustration and anger when worn thin and tired.

Physically stronger than most would assume of someone who resembles a Lumeacia, Ciaran takes advantage of being underestimated when in combat.

History

Ciaran isn't quite sure where he was born and he doesn't at all remember the faces of his parents, but the unforgiving streets of Fellsgard were his first home. The half-elemental isn't even sure when he was abandoned, passed around orphanages or simply left to fend for himself, scrapping and stealing to survive as an urchin. His youth was one of struggle. He learned the necessities of how to fight to survive, swift and nimble with a hard fist, and discovered quite by accident his magical nature, realizing as he came of age that he wasn't simply a tall, lanky half-elf but something more.

He learned the alleys and shadows of Fellsgard, memorizing safe places and discovering how to use the urban landscape as well as his abilities with light and darkness and even the stars themselves to his advantage for protection. The half-elemental also learned the secrets of his Focus form, his towering height and airy composition as some caelomantic primal creature giving him even more options to work with.

He also learned just how to hide who he was, especially in a cityscape that didn't tolerate magic at all. Self-control was difficult, and while he came to understand that his enemies often had humanoid faces familiar and once-friendly instead of just undead or monsters outside the safety of the city gates, he was often the one who took beatings for others, protecting other youths and or foraging for food for other children.

It was still in his relative youth, just when the pathways toward crime would have gladly opened their hands to someone of his power and skillset, that he was taken in by a rather eccentric old man who ran a seemingly quiet little bookstore and bindery down some seemingly equally quiet side street. Ezre Vesivus—owner of Vesivus and Sons Books, Established 203 AoN and full-blooded Lumeacia so old and far from home—was more than just a lover of literature, and while he taught the street urchin he took in—along with the other children he gave odd jobs and beds and meals—to read and write and understand the world, he also taught him his way of living as a member of an ancient sect of Ny'tha and Ristgir worshippers, monks, and keepers of magical secrets.

The streetwise half-elemental learned to harness his physical prowess, honing his body as well as his magical nature, focus and self-discipline allowing him to not only keep his sorcerous talents secretive and discreet but also giving him a martial edge to protect himself and others.

The older man adopted the boy as more than just a pupil but also more or less as a son, becoming the father figure Ciaran had never had before. Just as everything seemed to be falling into place and he felt himself settle into a makeshift family, enjoying his training, teaching others, learning to run the bookstore and accompanying Ezre on travels to retrieve and deliver obscure literature all over the lands, both safely and dangerously, everything fell apart.

Returning from his first solo delivery, Ciaran returned to find his master and several of his fellow young acolytes, former street friends and orphans he'd grown up alongside, murdered. Instead of fleeing, the half-elemental vowed vengeance, lovingly and secretly caring for the bodies of his only family and taking over the bookstore as his own as if nothing particularly strange had happened. He took in new needy off the streets, teaching them as his monk master had taught him, and he carefully began to attempt to investigate what, exactly had happened in his absence, boldly daring whoever was responsible by being the sole survivor.
