Lightning Always Strikes The Same Place Twice

BOOM

Not all adventures will take occur in charted cities or the main land. Neighboring Khy'eras are islands and mist-filled oceans begging to be explored, should a person be brave enough.

Lightning Always Strikes The Same Place Twice

Post by Kristoff »

Lightning is a fun force, isn't it? It burns. It screams. It's.. well..

It's not that fun, actually.

Anger and rage and wrath and speed all define the element. It doesn't wait. It doesn't smile. It courses through matter with a violence that leaves the empty air behind it crying in agony. It burns and destroys and, best of all, it exists.
'
Born from a storm, Kristoff is a shining example of the devastation that lightning causes. For years, he was nothing more than a spark, a whimper in the caustic storms that sometime course across Khy'eras. As his power grew, he became the scourge of trees, the light in the darkest night, the sound that would chase away the bravest of wolves. He was lightning itself. It felt good, flowing through the air, pushing the limits of distance and speed, crashing those poor wooden rods in half. It felt really good... Until it didn't.

Over time, Kristoff learned that he wasn't a meager spark. He discovered that he could take form, that he could become something greater. He discovered the ability to walk the earth, instead of searing it. He learned that he wasn't an element. He was an elemental.

Wrath, rage, speed, anger, and all the bottled up emotions of this fundamental exchange of ions? Those never left him. In truth, they became concentrated, and Kristoff was more than a dangerous entity. He delighted in the fury and chaos. He was fury and chaos!

When he made landfall his first time, he didn't do so with a subtle 'woosh'. No. It was a cacophonous "BOOM". First, there was lightning. Then, there was Kristoff.

Smiling, the white-haired, scarred man walked away from the smoldering tree that served as his lodestone. His smile grew as he looked down at his hands - the left one pristine, the right one scarred with zig-zagging patterns that covered half his body. He tested his voice, first with a cough, then with laughter that sounded like thunder itself. He'd have to work on that.

Then, just like he manifested, he was gone, a flash of white streaking into the clouds, followed with the ever-present rumble of thunder.

Khy'eras, I hope you've installed some lightning-rods, because Kristoff is a comin'.
