Contained below are the collected NPCs of the Unreliable Narrator and Others. Some are restricted and here for information, many are open for free use as background or companions, and some are welcome to fill adoption as either long term story companions or to be made into characters.

Under each character's name you will find a Status field. This can contain several options in a variety of combinations as explained below:

Restricted - this character is being actively used and information is for convenience only
Open - this character is free for use in random events and minor storylines
Adoptable - this character is suitable for long term storylines, significant growth, or promotion to a full character
Retired - this character no longer is available due to injury, death, or some other issue

All NPCs will have a profession, not all professions are a direct analog to a PC class.

For definitions of Romantic and Sexual Orientation.

The Playing As section contains suggestions for reasonable situations, scenes, and encounters for the NPC. You do not need to ask me to use any of the Open or Adoptable characters for your own purposes, though I do love to see them in action.

Relationships and companions will often be mostly inconsequential, but when it does have information it is important to the NPC.

Hair: A dark auburn, thick and naturally wavy, often kept in a loose braid
Face: An oval face, with full lips and a smattering of freckles across her strong nose
Ears: Her ears are slim for a Kerasokan and lay mostly against her head, but still have the distinct point when not hidden by her luscious hair
Eyes: Emerald green, that sparkle like their namesake beneath a strong but slightly recessed brow
Voice: Her voice is lilting and light, underlying her playfulness and teasing with a constant hint of amusement.
Other: Hannah has shorter, but equally dexterous fingers for a Kerasokan. They are covered in many small scars, nicks, and callouses from her many years sailing the seas.

Clothing and Accessories
Wears a loose shirt tucked into heavy duty sailors trousers, which are themselves tucked into well-maintained but clearly aging boots. Her hands have several golden trinkets and other somewhat gaudy adornments she has collected over the years. Around her neck she wears a small silver talisman in the shape of an anchor held on a leather cord.

Personality
Hannah is a horrid flirt, but keeps everyone interested in romance at several arms length. She loves to carouse and party, but also understands that sometimes the only solution is grit, grime, and gruntwork. Her five and a half decades of sailing experience have given her a broad appreciation of beautiful vistas, decadent clothing, and delicious food and drink. She's quick with a ribauld joke and more likely to befriend a drunk than start a fight, but will shatter a chair over the back of someone who refuses to take no for an answer or gets too handsy.

Relationships and Companions
Currently incidentally working for Artemis Black as a waitress and assistant cook for Lena the Chef at Black's at East Hall. Her mother and father still reside in the South District and she visits them on occasion, but has little reason to return home. She has many drinking friends, and can often be reminisced about by name at many of the less savory taverns.

Background
Hannah was born to immigrant parents who managed to get by admirably in a small home in the South District of Fellsgard. She completed schooling with solid marks, but nothing exceptional, and when given the opportunity to take a short tour on a trade vessel jumped at the chance. Since then she has sailed for 55 years combined up and down the coasts on all manner of vessel, though she still prefers the faster lighter ships to the massive merchant tubs. Between runs she tried her hand at smuggling, some light privateering, and even acting as a guide and fisherwoman for several years. She now resides in the East District on a form of intentional retirement, stretching her coin as far as it will go and accepting the odd short term jobs as they come up.

Playing As
Hannah has a curious streak and a habit of getting herself into trouble just for something to do. She is very talented at sailing and rigging work, but has very little trained combat experience beyond bar brawls. She tends to be aggressively flirty if she feels like she can get away with it, and prefers strong women and even stronger drink. She refuses to form romantic connections, having lived through the deaths of all her human friends once already in her relatively early Kerasokan lifespan. If you need someone to run the bars, get into trouble, or run a rumship down treacherous waters Hannah might be just the woman you're looking for.

He enjoys the occasions when he can focus on artistry rather than money and fast fashion that so many clients request. His rose garden and his shop are two of his favorite places, and both are well-tended and expansive.

Clothing and Accessories
Amalia wears a set of patterned loose collared shirts beneath a heavy apron kept cinched by a thick leather belt. Her trousers are often a thin material even in winter, and are tucked into aging but reinforced boots to protect her feet on the worksite. She wears a variety of gloves, tool belts, and other equipment as the job requires, but tends to prefer to minimize her load from task to task.

Personality
Most of Amalia’s life has been spent as one of the boys and she has taken to this with gusto. She was raised around three brothers and spent most of her life working or living around the dockside and shipyards, as such, she is brusque, no-nonsense, and quick with a barb or encouragement as the moment demands. She is also openly caring, though won’t often go out of her way if she doesn’t have to.

Relationships and Companions
Amalia is currently employed by Artemis Black as the joiner and wagoneer at Black's at East Hall. Her mother and father have both passed away naturally several years ago. She is currently romantically unattached, but is in a physical relationship with Hannah Shaffer.

Background
Amalia was raised in a very full household in a worker’s home along the Western District shipyards. Her entire family worked in the docks and shipyards and she does much the same. When she was young, her father taught her her carpentry, hoping to pass on the trade to as many of his children as he could. Amalia took to the skill, but eventually specialized as a joiner. She has a great deal of experience in and around the construction of buildings and ships, but a summer injury damaged her shoulder and left her without work just as the busy season approached. She was selected by a former colleague, Jacobus, to be a member of the work crew for Black’s at East Hall and now resides in the bunkhouse and is a regular crew member.

Playing As
Amalia’s ambitions are simple. She wants a cozy home away from the scent of fish, a beautiful woman to dote on, and as many dogs and children as she can handle. She knows the value of her skills and time, and will brook no bullshit or shorted pay. She is also a strong drinker and carouser, but tends to be more reserved if her pay is on the line.

Voice: He speaks with a measured and even tone, though there is an unsettling gravelliness to his voice, likely from the injury to his neck.

Clothing and Accessories
Almost always wearing a heavily stained chef's linens. Beneath the thick cloth his body is covered in tattoos. When he is acting outside the Velvet Goose he often wears the trappings of his time in the Bears. Bronze pauldrons that sit around a deep scooped tunic that exposes his more important ink. Worn leather gloves always cover his hands and smell faintly of various herbs and tonics.

Personality
"Arcturus" Cook is a powerful man who has earned his place in the world through indomitable will, unceasing struggle, and a deep respect for those who’ve earned their measure. He is the uncontested Crown, meaning he has unchallenged authority in his domain. He is a man who believes in honor, protecting his family, and knowing his position above all other things. He will not allow others to endanger his family, and can be unrelenting when challenged.

Voice: Soft and somewhat ethereal, often with a hint of a purr or teasing smile. She tends to speak past her fangs rather than open her mouth more fully.
Other: She keeps her middle and ring finger nails longer and sharper than the others as an amusement and last ditch weapon.

Clothing and Accessories
Usually wears a laced bodice, off-the-shoulder underdress, and a skirt. Deborah prefers to wear low necklines and enjoys the looks they bring.

Personality
Deborah takes her position as head of logistics seriously. As a Korcai, she rarely sleeps, which makes her an excellent night manager. She has worked with other members of the Menagerie on various projects.

Deborah has many sexual partners and an ever-changing group of ‘snacks’ and ‘meals’ - with whom she often exchanges sexual pleasure for blood - but the position of her habitual Lovers and Dearests is above any casual contacts. She is fiercely protective of her Dearests - her chosen few among those she feeds from and also her Lovers. In return for their blood and attention (and for Lovers, sex), Deborah is known to spoil them - in food, presents, luxury items and services - almost anything they can ask for.

She does this, not because she truly cares for them, but to encourage a more delicious flavor. Happy, well-fed meals are the most delicious. Stress and hunger add a certain sourness she prefers to avoid. Fear adds a delicious sweetness, but terror sours the taste.

Background
Deborah was the only daughter of a small but moderately successful Fellsgard trading family. She was being trained by her father and mother to take over the family business and as such often travelled with her parents to meet distant contacts. It was during one such trip the wagon was attacked by a roaming Korcai and their gang of bandits. The father and mother were killed brutally, but the Korcai took a particular liking to Deborah and played with her for weeks before finally deciding to turn her.

When Deborah awoke, she was confused and angry, but also very hungry. She drained two bandits dry before fleeing the camp into the night. She wandered the road west, looking to find her home and learning about her new condition. After almost dying during her first dawn, she became more cautious and moved only at night. She came across several lone wagons, but initially avoided them. When her hunger was too great she fed upon a wagon driver and just managed to avoid killing them. In the ensuing haze she discovered the properties of her bite and enticed the man to take her to the city beneath a heavy cover of tarps and blankets.

Once in the city she roamed the streets and rooftops for several weeks before discovering she could feast easily enough and often by simply roaming the taverns and dive bars when the sun was hidden. Eventually she came to reside in the Velvet Goose, making a pact with the Crown, Arcturus Cook for protection in exchange for work.

Playing As
You do not play with Deborah. She plays with you.

Additional Notes
Deborah typically eats every two to three days. If she wishes to maintain her strength she would need to eat each morning, but she chooses to allow herself to weaken to reduce the strain on her meals. By her fourth day without a meal she begins to starve and enters a bloodlust on the fifth day. If she has not eaten by her seventh day she will begin to slip into unconsciousness.

Complexion: A fair complexion, though there are a few darker patches and spots across her body from hyper-pigmentation.
Hair: Long, red hair. Sometimes tied up in twin-tails, but can reach about mid-way down her back at full length.
Face: Her face is highly expressive, her eyebrows are thin but curve impressively, her eyes are slightly larger than average, and she has a button nose. Her lips are faintly colored.

Voice: High-pitched voice (sometimes getting higher when excited about something)

Armor and Weapons

Keeps a pair of brass knuckles in her pocket in case of emergency situations, but otherwise rarely carries weapons and usually wears clothing that is easier to move around in when necessary.

Clothing and Accessories

Often wears a pair of airship pilot’s goggles when not on the job, a symbol of her dreams. Besides that, she tends to wear casual or office clothes depending on whether she’s on the job or not. While she follows the fashions of the day, she prefers to dress to what is comfortable rather than what is fashionable, conservative or provocative.

Personality

June is an overwhelmingly positive girl, sometimes charming and sweet and sometimes full of more bluster and bravado then is bearable. Whatever the situation, it seems nearly impossible to keep her positive attitude down for too long. While she can be a bit of a ditz, her exuberance is a boost to anyone’s morale.

In the face of a challenge, June takes on everything with 100% gusto, determined to prove her worth to the entire world even if only one person is watching. While she can be a bit clumsy, her indomitable personality ensures that in the end she completes whatever tasks she’s given. She can’t stand giving anything less than her all – or being patronised because of it (the only exception seems to be her work as a receptionist, which she is doing simply to pay the bills, even though she doesn’t really care for it and is not that great at it). She’s been known to lead a surprisingly swift beatdown on anyone who treats her like a child, even though she can act a little childish at times.

At her work, she attempts to restrain herself somewhat, not wanting to lose her job. She deeply cares about her family back in Redwood Village, and sends them back some of the money she earns in order to everyone at her home is OK.

On the downside, June seems to have no kind of filter on her, leading her to blurt out what’s on her mind with almost no restraint, as well as her being almost incapable of keeping a secret due to loving to share what gossip she’s heard or seen. Those who know her know that if you want something to spread across Fellsgard, ask June to keep it secret.

She also sometimes gets distracted by cute boys.

Skill and Training

Despite her clumsiness, her overwhelmingly cheerful and almost undefeatably optimistic attitude is surprisingly enriching for the morale, at least if she can stop crashing into things.

Besides that, she will absolutely devour any knowledge of airships to the point she may know more than many officially licensed pilots. Her knowledge on the subject has impressed even a few pilots, despite having never flown or even been in one yet.

Ever since she was little she was able to hold her own in a good brawl, and those who underestimate her learn quickly not to after receiving a good punch in the face. Members of her family have taught her a few self-defence tricks, and from there combined with her aptitude for (mostly accidental) destruction, she is a surprisingly good brawler for one with little professional training, though she’s no professional and has a tendency to be a bit too flashy at times.

Having work as a receptionist at The Grace of Cecilia’s Healer’s Hall has given her some ability for organising things. Sometimes. But even she wouldn’t rely on herself for that, and neither would anyone with any sense unless the situation was dire.

Background:

Born in a tiny village outside of Fellsgard, June was known for her wild and carefree attitude since what seemed to be birth. Being born an only child seemed to be the most boring thing she could imagine, so she became the leader of the local gang of ‘adventurer’ children in the village, and would without hesitation lead them on adventures through rivers and forests. Even as a child, that who underestimated her would often receive a roar followed by a boot to the head.

Though her family was poor, their dedication to working hard, sending materials to Fellsgard, was rewarded enough that they were able to live if not comfortably at least well enough to keep going. With her father as the defacto ‘leader’ of Redwood Village, they were (and are) still going as one of the stronger villages in Tyivr.

Ever since seeing an airship flying above her village as a little child, she has been determined to fly one someday, proudly boasting of her dreams to become an airship captain. But while her parents are supportive, they are determined to ensure she has a stable job. For her part, June really does care for her family and is determined to provide for them, even if she has to do some jobs that she really rather wouldn’t.

With a lot to prove, and a lot of cute boys to find, June welcomes the challenge of the big city.
