Botanical Journal One - Flora of Tviyr

Below is an extensive list of the various flora inhabiting Tviyr that I have noted and identified thus far...

Flowering Plants:

Name: Lylaurssë (Ly-loar-say) (Golden Blossom)
Description: A medium sized, green stem headed by a cross-shaped flower, and four, rich golden petals, with silver tipped pistil and white stamen.
Location: Noted as being seen blooming in meadows, fields and small wooded areas
Properties:
  • Bitter in taste but edible
  • Has a faint fruity smell
  • When crushed, petals have been noted as possessing light healing properties (Must be tested more)
  • Grows in groups of six or more

Name: Niphyl (Nith-ull) (Snowdrop)
Description: Small, green stem headed by a bell-shaped flower and six, drooping white tepals, with green pistil and green stamen
Location: Noted as being seen near hedgerows, in meadows and mountainous areas
Properties:
  • Inedible, contains natural toxins
  • Petals can be crushed and dried for white paint
  • Smells sweet and fresh
  • Grows in groups of three to four

Name: Lunniln (Lun-nilln) (Moonstar)
Description: Small, white stem headed by a star-shaped flower, of eight deep blue petals, with gold pistil and silver stamen
Location: Noted as only ever appearing in woodland clearings
Properties:
  • Only blooms fully when exposed to moonlight
  • Emits a faint glow in darkness
  • Grows alone
  • Petals curl up, protecting the stamen and pistil in sunshine

Name: Sollniln (Sol-nilln) (Sunstar)
Description: Medium, orange stem headed by a funnel-shaped flower, of six vibrant orange petals, with red pistil and yellow stamen
Location: Noted as being seen only high up in mountainous areas
Properties:
  • Only blooms when exposed to sunlight
  • Can be used to treat burns and small cuts
  • Petals curl up when exposed to darkness or moonlight
  • Grows alone
