Artemis spotted Ksenia leaving the inn and she seemed in one piece. He let her come up to him, taking the time as she crossed the street to build his nerves. When she told him what Katarya had said he was mildly confused. "Dramatic, I can't imagine why," he said with an eyebrow raised. He followed her inside, leaving several steps so he wouldn't crash into her.

He didn't actually know how to bow properly. He'd seen servants doing something he'd call a bow, but they seemed to vary wildly based on a number of factors he couldn't fathom. He did know for certain that he shouldn't curtsy. Regardless, he was here to be nice and abide by a contract he'd accepted. He'd have to simply try his best and see where that got him.

Once he crossed the threshold into the building he turned to face the elf behind the bar and snapped his body straight before bowing near to his waist, his head kept level with his shoulders. Then he rose, relaxed his body and scanned the room briefly. He gave a soft birdsong {Friend. Enemy. Wait} to Raen when he spotted him working at an instrument, and then walked normally over to the table Ksenia had moved to.

He walked up to the edge of the table, and nodded to Katarya. "May I?" he asked in a level tone with none of his usual jovialness as he motioned to the seat beside her with his hand.

Raen had glanced up as Artemis and walked in, giving him a quick flash of a smile and a wink, before turning back to his lute.

As for Elára, she gave the tiniest of nods to Artemis as the man bowed, though her eyes smouldered with disapproval. She was following protocol, but it seemed she wasn't happy about it.

Katarya looked so highly strung she might snap. Her back was straight, her hands clasped together on the table (which now had a bottle of wine and four cups; hangover be damned!). When the two approached and Artemis asked to sit, she gave a nod, a strained smile and then motioned to the booth chairs. "Please," she said, politely. "Wine?" She was already pouring herself one.

After taking a long drink, she set the cup down. "I cannot stress enough how discreet we must be; even if you don't care for my reputation; Dáire is a good man and I don't want to hurt his standing in here. He'll be down soon, we had lunch together so he should be in the building." She took a breath. "What's the latest?"

Now that the part that depended solely on her was over, Ksenia took a moment to glance around her. The bar itself looked like the wood had been intricately carved; maybe she’d come back just to study it. The partitions between the booths hadn’t escaped the woodworkers’ whimsy either. An abundance of deer were scattered on almost every wood surface she could see, usually sporting horns.

She heard Artemis whistle a birdsong, although only part of it sounded like what he’d showed her earlier. He's behaving so seriously, she thought. I guess this is his business self. Katarya had invited them to drink, but Ksenia rarely drank. Katarya seemed like the cup she was pouring was not her first of the day, which was further incentive not to indulge.

Despite being told she was welcome, Ksenia didn’t trust the elves around her. Katarya was high-strung, to be sure, but probably not without reason. She wanted to keep her senses sharp. Just in case.

Artemis slipped into the booth beside Katarya and kept everything very formal. He was glad he was wearing just normal clothes. The thought of trying to do all this in the unfamiliar finery he'd been wearing yesterday was not a pleasant one. She was dressed more regularly as well, but seemed as though she was already beginning to crack from strain. He accepted a glass of wine but didn't drink from it.

"I understand that, it's likely we'll need to go elsewhere for the full set of information then. I do have papers for Dáire that can be passed onward," he said, trying his hardest to not be his animated self or touch her. 'Never touch a woman on edge, there are worse things than knives,' he thought to steel himself.

"I have the things I expected, routes and numbers, as well as information on the particulars of the temporaries we discussed. You're welcome to read it yourself," he said as he reached into his satchel and set the wrapped documents onto the table. The metal in the damaged vest clinked loudly as he extracted the sheaf of papers from it.

"Separately, I'd appreciate a chance to apologize to you in an environment you deem suitable, with people you deem suitable. I would prefer to be without escort at the time, to quell any concerns," he said, lightly twirling his cup to keep from tapping his fingers or humming a tune.

Kat sounded far too lively in herself as she slipped onto the seat beside him, he grunted an unintelligible response to her indirect query, bumping her arm playfully. The timely arrival of Raya and his food was a welcome distraction, that was until his mouth was crammed full and he actually turned to look at Kat, she was as un-Miss-Frost like as he’d ever seen her, and Raya taking notice as well had him snorting like a hog and trying not to choke on his food.

<“If you knew my day plan, you may not complain Almá”> chuckling he concentrated on his food once more, he paused with a forkful half way to his mouth when she offered him Nyx. Glancing over his shoulder at he, he raised a brow, <“I don’t think your little bird likes me too much, but if she’s willing to help; I would find it a great help I’m sure.”>

Their stilted conversation died off when Raya returned with Kats own plate of food, finishing up he bid her goodbye, and set out towards the North of the City.

***

Sara looked more than a little nervous as she waited at the corner of the street, right by one of the many little bridges connecting the west to the northern section of the city. She was a small woman, her frame more mouse like than many of the human females her age, red hair catching the chilly autumn breeze, causing her to run her hands over her arms and move restlessly. Stilling as soon as she spotted Dáire, smiling cautiously.

“Hello Sara, “ He smiled quietly, “I hope you’ve got good new for me?” The girl nodded, a little too enthusiastically as the wind caught her, pulling her off balance. Dáire caught her shoulders and settled the young woman once more, concern lining his sharp features. Just as he was about to comment on it. She finished fussing within her cloak and shoved a messy handful of papers his direction. When he didn’t immediately take them, her anxiety kicked up a notch, and she began frantically looking around them once again. “What’s wrong friend?” The concern in his voice was Ernest, Sara turned watery blue eyes on him, only heightening his worry.

She took a deep breath, eyes darting around and scanning the street before they locked onto Dáire, “The Lord did get a letter this mornin’ sir – it’s all the staff could speak of this morning!” She spurted out in a rush, “And then with you was askin’ for these plans, am so afraid someone would ‘ave noticed them! Or that I left the ‘ouse with papers in tow …” She trailed off, her eyes wide and face pinched in fear.
“What did the letter say, Sara?” he coaxed, the girl beginning to shake before him as she replied. “That tha thieves were collectin’ blank bags and are plannin’ te assault the noble ‘omes. It was Mr. Dorlar you see sir, he sent letters out te most of the noble families in Fellsgard this mornin’,” Sara searched his face, and then she whimpered. “Tis you! Ristgir bless us all …” she exclaimed before folding in on herself slightly, she gave their surroundings another nervous sweep.

Dáire sighed, “You mean Jacidon Dorlar?”. When she nodded solemnly, he cursed under his breath before thanking the young woman for taking the risk and for relaying such information to him.

Back at the hart, safely ensconced in his private room Dáire poured over the maps of the Dirge estate. The joy of getting the diagrams from the servants, while they were totally to scale, they had all the servant’s doors and hidden corridors on them. which he doubted official ones would bother to have laid out.

The knock at his door caught him by surprise, Raya popping her head around the door. <” Almá Kat says you have guests downstairs, she wishes for you to join her Nuinë”>

Shooting the elf a smile he rose from his desk, abandoning the plans and ensuring he locked the door on his way out. Reaching the main room of the tavern, he spotted Kat in a far corner as he strolled across the room , he back stiff as board as she clasped her signature glass of red wine. Artemis sat be-side her, looking rather uncomfortable as well but it was the other young woman’s presence that caused a slight hitch in one of his steps, as he stared at Ksenia’s now exposed point tipped ears. Settling himself beside her at the booth, he said his greetings, shooting Artemis a sympathetic look. He wouldn’t want to be in Kats bad books today.

Katarya shook her head, running her finger over the rim of her cup. "There's no need to apologise; it's best we just pretend it didn't happen and let bygones be just what they are." She had said, jumping slightly at the 'thunk' the metal made on the table. One two gazes came their way for a moment, but went back to their business when Kat gave them a nod with 'mind your business' written into it.

When Dáire made an appearance, she gave a relieved smile. His presence would keep people from trying to listen in. Ranks and position were treated quite seriously here, and it was not worth it for any almé or lassë to eavesdrop.

"So ... now that we're here, and while it is quiet; why don't we all just agree on a plan and then meet back the day of the event to finalise everything?" She offered. No point in waiting around; plus her own preparations would take up pretty much all of her time over the four days they had (which included this one).

"Who wants to go first?" She said, looking around the table.

Artemis did not like trying to pretend nothing happened, but he was also working and trying to not cause any problems. He simply sat, quietly waiting and twirling his wine. When Dáire arrived he nodded to the man and motioned to the stack of papers. "The schedules we discussed. I've not got much else besides Ksenia's work. We'll need you to provide measurements," he said looking to Kat.

"My understanding was, there'd be two inside. Snatch and grab, distraction via my lo- the lady. Then handoff to overwatch, since you're larger than a regular guard even. Any major changes?" he asked the table.

He tapped on the table several times in thought and then looked to Dáire. "If you have the maps, I'd appreciate seeing them, but otherwise I can simply stop causing issues if you'd prefer." He stopped his finger as soon as he noticed it, returning it to his lap and being very careful not to touch Katarya.

Kat nodded as Artemis spoke, not oblivious to his near slip of the tongue. But she wasn't going to tease him on it, for sure!

She nodded to Ksenia. "When do you need me, and where?" She glanced around. "Serving those Ny'tha damned high-borns is going to be the most difficult thing. I'd be much happier being allowed to individually slap each and every one of them!" Her animosity to the upper classes had only increased since her time among the Elves. "Elitist good-for-nothings." She grumbled.

Then she composed herself. "I'm preparing some tricks for the night. When we meet on the day, I can explain better. I still have some .... experimenting to do. But all should be well on the magical front."

The tension at the table, was infinitely worse than he had been prepared for when he sat down. Taking the papers from the thief he flicked through them, surprised - although unfairly, that he had got a hold of them so swiftly. Unconsciously he bobbed his head as he mentally took notes and laid them over what he already knew of the estates lay out.

He only looked up again when he felt Artemis’s gaze fall upon him and ask about the maps. Dáire grimaced slightly. “They’re in my quarters, and I shall retrieve them but I hit a bit of a snag.” He proceeded to grimly explain about what Sara had told him, who Jack was and the situation with the rat of a man. “I need to take care of Jack, but I haven’t had time to consider the implications and how to deal with the resulting change to our plans. that his loose tongue will have brought.” He rose from the booth grace-fully, looking down at the group at the table, “I’ll grab the papers for Artemis ... ” listening to the women he frowned, "Or maybe you're going to come with me then." He looked back to Artemis, sighing, "Lets go then."

Artemis nodded and rose to follow Dáire. When he moved near Katarya he halted jerkily and offered her a half-hearted attempt to hug without really raising his arms fully. She returned the gesture in a friendly but brief way and he struggled to keep the frown off his features. "Lead on, I'm interested to see what our options are," he said to Dáire in his cold neutral tone.

'So things aren't as they were, if that's her, me, the elf, or the bard who knows. Bards do cause trouble, and I did drink with him. Things are somewhat fuzzy, but I don't remember asking anyone for much beyond companionship. Maybe he lied and kept the bracelet for himself', he thought frantically as he followed the large elf upstairs.
