Finding Things

Post by Vent »

Sometimes wandering leads to cursed discoveries or lucky finds. It's all about point of view Vent thought to himself as he followed a strange clue. Vegetation was not varied commonly in the Reaches, but it had its share of plants surviving the constant harsh cold in the north. So when something seemed off about the flora his ranger instincts tingled a bit. He was half water elemental after all.

He crouched examining dead pine needles that left a trail to those with nature knowledge. He held up the evidence to his small companion on his shoulder. "What do you make of this Trevor?" The minature dragon looked at it and breathed heated steam on the brown plant. The half fire elemental looked at at his friends statement as the needle ignited and turned to ash. "Exactly, this has to be a case of floralcide, or something real." The ranger laughed at his own bad joke then followed the trail of dead greenery. What else was he going to do to break his boredom.

The trail finally ended awhile later. The pair found a large number of pine trees dying around a skull as big as Vent. "That skull is massive it must belong to a giant of some kind. Looks like we need to find a way to move this thing to a safer place."

It was in that moment the skull floated off the ground and caught fire thru mystical means. The bone chilling laughter that followed was concerning. Then the animated creature breathed fire on the two living beings. It laughed even harder when the small humanoid seemed to disappear in a cloud of smoke.

The little dragon turtle seemed to smile at the skull as it breathed a cone of super heated steam on the floating enemy. Meanwhile, the cloud moved as if alive and encircled the smaller bone creature. Then the temperature around the skull rose so rapidly that nature took its course. Extremely cold bone couldn't handle such a change so it exploded. The echo created a loud booming that caused an avalanche burying the remains completely.

Trevor popped his head out of the snow as his friend reformed into his dwarven shape. "Guess that works right Trev?" The little creature nodded its agreement.
