Normally a charismatic and cocky man with a great want for adventure and a taste for some of the finer things in life. He does, however, tend to become somewhat serious when it comes to fighting and keeping his crew in line when looting. Deep down, hidden to the world, is the desire to be loved and to feel safe, like he did with his parents when he was a boy.

History
Finn was born in Fellsgard to wealthy merchant parents. They traded in the grandest of silks and other fabrics - selling only to the wealthiest of buyers, usually lords and ladies. The early years of Finn's life was good - full of love and luxury. He would grow up to inherit his parents business and influence and fame. Unfortunately, the Roberts' had one thing that would mean their downfall - magic, which they were caught practicing. Luckily, Finn had missed out on this gift due to birth complications.
Finn remembers the day clearly when his life changed forever. It was a sunny day, the smell of spices hanging in the air and the city was alive with trade. He was at home and his parents were at their shop, business was good that day. Suddenly everything changed. He heard angry shouting and saw a crowd moving past the house. He followed them to his parents' shop and saw the horror unfolding. The shop was torn apart and his parents dragged out into the street. He couldn't remember what was said, but he remembered how his parents were beaten bloody before being clamped in irons and led away. He fled into the depths of the city, hiding from anyone he saw - scared that he'll be next.
He soon joined up with the orphaned underworld and learned how to fend for himself - how to get food and money and how to fight. During this time, he might a boy named Derrick. At first the two boys could not stand one another and constantly sabotaged each other's attempts at thieving and whatnot. One night, they both were caught trying to steal from cargo that had just arrived at the docks. In this situation, it quickly became evident that both boys had a knack for speech. With a few lies and puppy eyes, they were let go. After the ordeal, they quickly realized that they made a better team than enemies. They soon had recruited a merry band of orphans to help with raids. In their spare time, Finn had taught Derrick how to read and write. They became good friends and when Finn landed himself a job as deckhand on a merchant ship, Derrick was by his side, travelling to and from Fellsgard. This soon gave them both a taste for the sea.
One way or another, they ended up on a corsair ship. Finn quickly took a liking to pirating and the spoils it yielded and, thus, showed great aptitude at the mast. He worked himself up over the years until he became quartermaster to the captain. Within this time, Derrick lost a leg in a raid that had to be replaced with a steel peg. They both had to quickly learn how to adapt to this sudden change. In the beginning, Finn had to make sure he was always at Derrick's back to save his friend when necessary. Eventually, Derrick got used to the change and he even ended up using his peg leg as a weapon at times.
The pirates seized a merchant ship one day and, after the spoils, the ship was to be destroyed. He voiced his desire to captain his own ship and, due to his skills on-board, his captain complied. With the spoils of a few small raidings, he was able to modify the ship into a battle-ready brig. The balustrades and were lined with crossbows and ballistas were placed on deck. Four small catapults were also mounted on the four corners of the ship - able to throw any projectile placed in their scoops at an enemy - Finn however preferred the power of alchemical bombs. A modified metal ram was also mounted on the prow. The Phantom Queen was ready to sail with Finn as her Captain and Derrick as her Quartermaster.
They survived a few years with the ballistae, until he heard of a weapon that could shoot the bombs - propelled out of the weapon with some alchemical formulation. He knew he had to get some of them before he had to fish out the Queen form the bottom of the ocean.
After quite a few raids, they had saved up enough to pack away the ballistae and catapults and to equip a full gun deck of 12 cannons a side and 6 in total on the top deck. The Phantom Queen was now a force to be reckoned with.
