A horse named Mouse with whom he has a special bond
Personality
A witty man with a charming smile and a knack for looking for and starting trouble. He also enjoys a pint of ale or mead when he is not swinging his sword.
He enjoys travelling the land and meeting people and wooing the ladies with his handsome visage. He has a heart of gold and will always help someone in need. He despises nobles, mostly because he does not normally give them the chance to prove to him that they are not all the same. He knows deep down, that his father was good to him, even though he was illegitimate. He knows his father could have easily ignored his existence. He also searches for some kind of purpose, to belong somewhere where he will be deemed worthy enough.

History
Gailen is somewhere between the tree and the bark.....not a noble, but he is the bastard son of Dorian Ashdown, Lord of Ashdown Estate in Fellsgard. Before Dorian had married and had a legitimate son, he had lusted after Gailen's mother, a mere kitchen wench in the manor. Nine months later, Gailen was born. By then, Lord Ashdown had married and a legitimate child was on the way. Lord Ashdown was not heartless, regardless that Gailen had no legitimate claim to the Estate. He provided for the boy and he allowed his mother to keep her job in the kitchens.
Gailen received a decent education as well as decent training in martial skills. He took to the sword as a duck to water, and his worth was soon noticed by many. The swordmaster started training him harder. Gailen enjoyed his education, but he did not know the full extent of his birth until a few months before he came of age, when he asked his mother once more what happened to his father. It was then she revealed the truth. His anger ran deep that the Lord did not deem his mother good enough to make her his wife and that he was not good enough to be made a legitimate son. He lived quietly with his anger, training harder to make a name for himself.
When he came of age, Gailen was asked, even begged to join the legion. Even his distant father had taken notice of his skills. But he refused to join and decided to pave his own path. He started travelling the land, taking part in tourneys, defending people and even taking the odd job as a sell-sword for extra money. As he grew older, he grew wittier and would often find himself outnumbered in a tavern brawl. More often than not, he would emerge as the victor in the brawl, due to his martial skill, but he would have his fair share of cuts and bruises. His main purpose was to best any noble he came across, especially in tourneys, to prove to them and to himself, that he was worth something. He harboured a resentment towards nobles, as he believed they were all alike to his father.
Over the years, he kept his mother's last name, rather than settling for his father's.
